Three separate Diablo storylines are colliding this month: Diablo 4’s Season 15 PTR just wrapped, a leak points to Diablo 4 finally landing on Switch 2, and Diablo II: Resurrected’s next Ladder season is already locked in. Here’s exactly what’s confirmed, what’s still a leak, and what to do about each one.
Quick summary: what’s happening across Diablo right now
| Game / Update | Status | Date | Headline Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diablo 4 Season 15 | Projected | Most likely Sept 15, 2026 (a separate tracker says Sept 28) | Rebirth, Soul Splinters, 10 returning Legacy Uniques |
| Diablo 4 PTR 3.2.0 | Confirmed, already closed | Aug 4–11, 2026 (PC only) | First public test of Rebirth & Legacy Uniques |
| Diablo 4 on Switch 2 | Leaked, not announced | Reportedly Sept 15 or 18, 2026 | $69.99, code-in-box physical edition |
| D2R Ladder Season 15 | Officially confirmed | Starts Aug 21, 2026 (Patch 3.3 rolls out Aug 18) | Buffs to Bloodletter, Gravenspine, Angelic Raiment |
When does Diablo 4 Season 15 start?
Blizzard hasn’t published an official Season 15 date yet. Projected
The most cited estimate, September 15, 2026, comes from counting down the in-game Reliquary timer that tracks how many days are left in Season 14. Because a new season always starts the moment the old one ends, that countdown doubles as the projected Season 15 launch date. A separate community tracker instead points to September 28, and past Diablo 4 seasons have run anywhere from roughly 63 to 98 days, so a week or two of drift either way wouldn’t be unusual.
BlizzCon 2026 runs September 12–13, just two days before the front-runner date, which lines up well with Blizzard revealing the season’s theme and mechanics before launching it the following week. For context, Season 14, “Season of the Awakened Death,” launched June 30, 2026 and centers on Pandemonium Rifts.
↑ Back to summaryWhat did the Season 15 PTR (Patch 3.2.0) actually test?
The 3.2.0 Public Test Realm ran August 4, 10 a.m. PDT to August 11, 10 a.m. PDT, PC only. Blizzard said this wasn’t the full picture — more is being saved for BlizzCon.
- Rebirth — converts an existing Eternal character into a Seasonal one instead of rolling a new character. Resets the character to Level 1, keeps class, name, appearance, Hardcore/Normal state, and cosmetics, and tracks total hours played across every Rebirth. Gear and inventory are lost unless moved to the Eternal stash first.
- Soul Splinters — a new seasonal socketable item, Common through Unique rarity, each with a boon-and-bane tradeoff (e.g. more Crit Chance and Attack Speed for higher resource costs).
- 10 returning Legacy Uniques from Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo III, rebalanced for Diablo 4 and added permanently to all versions of the game. Five work for every class — including Leoric’s Crown, Stone of Jordan, and Ring of Royal Grandeur — and five are class-specific, like In-Geom and The Furnace.
- Challenge Dungeons and Overland Ambush — new optional high-difficulty encounters, including rare demons that hunt you across the open world with a 30-second warning before the fight starts.
- Mythic Unique and Charm crafting changes — a more direct crafting path through the Horadric Cube and Jeweler, plus new Mythic-quality Charms.
Because the season theme isn’t confirmed yet, treat any “best build” list you see right now as early speculation, not a locked tier list — there’s no live season data to rank builds against.
↑ Back to summaryEternal vs. Seasonal characters, explained
- Seasonal characters only exist for the active season. When the season ends, the character, its gear, gold, and Season Journey progress are automatically copied into the Eternal Realm, becoming a permanent, non-seasonal character.
- Eternal characters never expire and skip seasonal resets entirely, but they also can’t take part in seasonal mechanics or the seasonal Battle Pass.
- Starting fresh in Season 15 normally means creating a brand-new Seasonal character. With Rebirth, you’ll also be able to convert an existing Eternal character into a Season 15 character instead — at the cost of a Level 1 reset and losing its current gear once it’s moved to storage.
Is Diablo 4 really coming to Nintendo Switch 2?
Almost certainly, but Blizzard hasn’t made an official announcement. Leaked
Everything below comes from Dealabs leaker billbil-kun, who has a strong track record on release-date leaks, plus earlier sightings of the game on Indonesian and Taiwanese ratings boards.
- Price: $69.99 / €69.99 / £62.99
- Release window: reportedly September 15 or 18, 2026 — the leaker says they’re confident it’s one of the two but can’t confirm which
- Physical edition: a boxed version exists, but it’s code-in-a-box — no cartridge or Game-Key Card, just a printed download code
- Lord of Hatred expansion: still unconfirmed whether it’s bundled in or sold separately
- Possible reveal window: speculation points to Gamescom 2026 (August 26–30, Cologne)
Until Blizzard confirms this directly, treat the date and bundling details as a well-sourced rumor, not a locked release plan.

Frequently asked questions
Is Diablo 4 Season 15’s date official?
No. Blizzard has only confirmed the Season 14 timer math points to around September 15, 2026 — the exact date and theme are expected at BlizzCon on September 12–13.
Will my Diablo 4 Eternal character lose progress when Season 15 starts?
No. Eternal characters are untouched by seasonal resets. Only Seasonal characters are affected, and their gear and progress get copied into the Eternal Realm automatically once the season ends.
Does Rebirth delete my character?
No, but it resets the character to Level 1 and clears its inventory and equipped gear after you’re prompted to move items to storage. It keeps its name, class, appearance, and cosmetic unlocks.
Is the Diablo 4 Switch 2 version confirmed?
Not officially. It’s based on a credible leak (pricing and a release window) plus earlier ratings-board sightings, but Blizzard hasn’t announced it yet.
When exactly does D2R Ladder Season 15 start?
Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5 p.m. PDT, confirmed by Blizzard, with Patch 3.3 rolling out three days earlier on August 18.
Do I need to move my D2R Season 14 items before the reset?
Yes. Once Ladder Season 14 ends, its Shared Stash becomes a Withdraw Only tab, and you have all of Season 15 to pull items out before they’re gone for good.
This guide reflects the most recent public information available as of August 8, 2026. Unconfirmed items (Diablo 4 Season 15’s exact date/theme and the Switch 2 port) are subject to change once Blizzard makes an official announcement.
